Upgrades Improve Parking Lot and Safety

The Farnsworth Group team provided site and lighting design improvements, as well as construction observation services for the University of Illinois’ Parking Lot C-16, a pre-existing parking lot serving the north side of Sherman Hall.  The existing lot was a two-tiered asphalt parking lot with substandard handicap accessible parking and extensive pavement damage along the west driving lane used by trash vehicles when accessing dumpsters adjacent to the building.  The trash pickup route was reconstructed with a more robust concrete pavement cross-section, accessible routes and parking were reconfigured to meet current code requirements, light poles were replaced with new LED light fixtures, and the existing layout was retrofitted with a new single-tier asphalt wearing surface and concrete box outs around all drainage structures.
