Springfield Clinic identified an opportunity to expand surgical services in the Peoria market, responding to growing patient demand while improving access to high-quality care.
Rather than pursue development of a new surgery center through a lengthy state licensing process, the Clinic acquired an existing State of Illinois-licensed facility that could be transformed to meet its clinical, operational and branding standards.
Farnsworth Group led a comprehensive interior and exterior renovation, coordinating closely with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the City of Peoria to address permitting, phasing and compliance requirements. The exterior was redesigned to reflect Springfield Clinic’s modern brand, while ADA-compliant parking, a new drop-off canopy and enhanced landscaping improved accessibility and created a more welcoming patient arrival experience.
Inside, the facility was completely renovated to provide a state-of-the-art surgical suite and contemporary recovery areas. An adjacent Recovery Care Center was reimagined with six 72-hour recovery beds, providing patients with the option to remain onsite for extended postoperative care.
Using Target Value Delivery and lean design principles, the project team accelerated design and construction, allowing Springfield Clinic to begin serving patients sooner. The result is a modern, efficient and patient-focused surgical facility that expands access to surgical services and extended recovery care for patients throughout the Peoria region.
