Georgia Tech 4th Street Apartments HVAC Pre-TAB and Initial Controls Assessment

The Georgia Institute of Technology (GT) engaged Farnsworth Group's commissioning team to perform a pre-TAB assessment of twelve existing air handling units (AHU) serving the 4th Street Apartments. The 4th Street Apartments consist of four residence halls designated Stein, Goldin, Gray, and Hayes (also referred to in existing plans as Buildings A, B, E, and F, respectively). Stein and Goldin are connected, while Gray and Hayes are also connected.

The assessment included a highlevel controls investigation of the existing AHUs, the associated distribution system, and exhaust fans. The final report included an AHU Pre-TAB Report and outlined the team’s findings and recommendations for the future system. This existing condition assessment served as a first step in evaluating the HVAC building systems to determine what new equipment or building system modifications may be required to meet GT Housing's efficiency and reliability goals.
