Farnsworth Group was engaged through the 2022 on-call for architectural and engineering services to incorporate the previously designed Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) detection system (2021 Farnsworth Group design project), along with new mechanical and electrical system upgrades, into a singular set of documents suitable for public bidding. In addition, Farnsworth Group was required to incorporate the City’s Integrated Design Assistance Program (IDAP) process. This process brought together stakeholders to evaluate the entire building, from concept through construction, with the goal of improving cost-effectiveness, air quality, ease of maintenance, and energy efficiency.

Farnsworth Group assisted the City’s energy modeler in completing a holistic evaluation of the benefits of the planned HVAC system design.

The new HVAC systems were planned to incorporate electrification to the greatest extent possible to help meet the City’s Climate Action goals, which included transitioning to 100% clean, renewable electricity by 2030. The electrical systems were also required to consider on-site generation and solar-ready infrastructure for future photovoltaic systems.

The Transfort facility included bus parking, bus maintenance, and offices for certain Transfort staff.
