City of Clayton Parks and Recreation

Chapman Plaza was completed in Shaw Park and represented the latest phase in the beautification of the City of Clayton’s largest park. Farnsworth Group developed a stormwater master plan for Chapman Plaza to address MSD’s stormwater management requirements for the entire park. Stormwater management BMPs that were preliminarily designed for the various projects included bioretention areas, amended soil disconnects, and/or stormwater management ponds.
Because this project connected to the previously completed Recreational Trails project, Farnsworth Group had already completed the topographic and boundary survey for this area in Shaw Park. However, additional as-built topographic data was collected to verify the constructed elevations of the trails, and additional topographic data was collected within the roadways for the necessary street modifications.
Additions included:
The construction of the pond provided stormwater management by acting as a large catch basin that allowed the stormwater quality volume to be diverted to an existing bioretention area.
The stormwater master plan was approved by MSD in 2016, and Chapman Plaza was completed in Fall 2017.
