Greg O'Connor, PE Principal, Energy & Utilities

Greg brings more than 35 years of engineering experience to his role as a Managing Principal with Farnsworth Group, based in the firm’s St. Louis office. He provides leadership for both the Energy & Utilities and Transportation groups, with responsibilities that span business development, daily operations, budgeting, workforce planning, work‑sharing, inter‑department coordination, safety programs, and the standardization of technical and administrative processes across the firm.

Greg’s technical background includes extensive experience supporting oil and gas pipeline, pumping, compressor, and storage facility projects. He manages projects through all phases of delivery—from conceptual planning and final design to construction administration, commissioning, and close‑out. His expertise also includes mechanical integrity programs, in‑line inspection, rehabilitation and hydrostatic testing, decommissioning and recommissioning, cost estimating, and material specification development. Greg has served as Client Manager for Marathon Petroleum Company, leading preliminary project development, facility improvements, crossing replacements, nitrogen purging efforts, and the creation of standardized client processes for surveys, geotechnical investigations, directional drilling, and construction. Known for his steady leadership and client‑focused approach, Greg helps guide complex infrastructure projects while advancing the firm’s long‑term strategic goals.
