California State Capitol Building Annex

Farnsworth Group is providing energy consulting and commissioning services for a new 530,000 SF annex building connected to the California State Capitol building.

With building enclosure commissioning (BECx), Farnsworth Group secures the performance and quality of the building enclosure by verifying that exterior systems are properly designed and constructed to control air, water, heat, and moisture intrusion. The service includes design reviews, site observations, testing coordination, issue tracking, and final documentation confirming enclosure performance.

Throughout the commissioning and energy consulting process, our team members review the design team's energy reports and metering schemes. Our services blend the commissioning process with measurement and verification implementation. These services ensure the project meets its net-zero energy and full electrification goals.

The project is currently nearing dry-in and permanent power with final delivery scheduled for 2027. Commissioned systems include the building envelope, HVAC and hot-water systems, lighting, and the generator.

Using a monitoring-based commissioning platform, we advise the facilities team on identifying key performance indicators to display on an energy dashboard. This provides the client with real-time feedback on energy usage.

Farnsworth Group meets with the client regularly to track the project and provide periodic updates on progress toward project goals.
