Farnsworth Group/City of Peoria Win Award for New Road Design

The American Council of Engineering Companies Illinois Chapter (ACEC-IL) presented Farnsworth Group and the City of Peoria, IL, with a Merit Award for its design and construction of Orange Prairie Road.

Orange Prairie Road is a new principle arterial complete street facility located in Peoria. It stretches nearly 3 miles and serves as a gateway to the city from the surrounding region.

The project showcases green infrastructure elements, created natural habitat, landscaped boulevards, pedestrian bicycle and bus transit facilities.  Stormwater management facilities utilize native plantings while the project also incorporated decorative street lighting and attractive retaining walls. The project also included an existing highly-utilized intersection that was reconfigured under complex, staged construction to improve safety and mobility.
